My name is David. I run this shop with my son. I'm a true American with an obsession for perfection. Growing up in my dads auto repair shop I learned from the old timers. I went on to attend one of the top 5 auto schools in the country at the time, Ventura College, under Chuck Rockwood, to learn the latest in automotive technology. I became an ASE certified mechanic specializing in automatic transmission repair and rebuilding.
I started working in machine shops after I was discharged from the Army in 1992. I worked as an automotive machinist/ engine and transmission builder until I retired in 2012.
Not happy with being retired, I opened a machine shop to manufacture my own products in 2020. Navigating the pandemic was a challenge so I focused on building my shop.
After the machine shop opened, I needed anodizing done on a new product line so I built an additional anodizing and Laser Engraving shop.

Our welding services are in relation to our machining services. Joining parts to be machined, filling holes or redrilling holes, repairs etc. We offer Mig, Tig, Oxy.
We can laser engrave most metals. We have a fast high-quality Laser Engraver capable of extreme precision and fineness.
If you need one part or a bunch of parts, we can get your items engraved fast.

Fast turn around and protecting your parts. Please package your parts using the following method.
Wal Mart has plastic crates of just about any size. Using durable plastic crates protects your parts. If oily, wrap part in Cellophane first. Wrap your parts in in paper and cardboard. Box the plastic crate in a box that fits and tape abundantly using quality tape.
SHIPPING
Use Fed Ex or USPS only. DO NOT SHIP VIA UPS! UPS for the last 15 years have repeatedly lost and damaged packages too many times to trust their services anymore. We cannot be held liable for lost or damaged packages.
What it costs to ship is what it costs to ship back. Include a return shipping label. Your original packaging will be used to ship your item back. Missing return labels means your item will not be worked on until we receive a shipping label.
INCLUDE ALL PAPERWORK with parcel. Protect paperwork so it's not ripped or unintelligible when parcel arrives.
PAYMENT
All payment is by cashier's check or money order only! Be sure the M.O is filled out, properly and completely.
This is in part how we keep costs down. Using card services costs money and we are charged for each transaction. We have to forward that charge to the customer so in order to keep overhead low, we do not use card services.

Potter Industries offers a tiered pricing strategy for most jobs and this is another method of keeping costs down, and affordable for our customers. Since we are not looking to do production jobs like other shops, we depend on single item jobs.
The lowest tier is tier 1, at just $19.00.
Tier 2 is $35.00
Tier 3 is $50.00
Tier 4 is $75.00
Tier 5 is $99.00
A tier 1 job would be the considered the simplest job that can be done in the minimum amount of time. Anything above the tier 5 pricing is more custom and needs a more defined pricing structure. Rest assured, that quote will be more than competitive and will be affordable to you.
